How To Play Roulette

Club USa CasinoRoulette plays as a game of chance. Roulette literally means small wheel, that is, a revolving wheel that holds pockets of numbers. The basic premise of this game is to bet on numbers between 1 and 36, placing chips on corresponding numbers on the roulette table. The dealer, also known as the croupier, then spins the wheel in one direction and then spins a small ball in the opposite direction. The croupier announces when betting ends for each spin. The winning number or combination is dictated by whichever pocket the ball lands in. Each roulette table usually has established rules on the minimum or maximum amount of chips per spin. The chips correspond to a specified denomination of monetary value.

There are two kinds of bets according to placement: inside and outside bets. An inside bets entails selecting a pocket number from the wheel where you think the ball will most likely land on. Inside bets can also be betting on a range of pockets, usually a bunch of consecutive numbers found on the roulette wheel. An outside bet, on the other hand, can include betting on the pocket color (red or black regardless of the number), odd or even numbers (regardless of pocket color), or on the positional groupings of pockets.

Here are the different types of Inside Bets:

  • The most common is the straight bet. Chips are placed entirely in the middle of a number square on the betting table.
  • Split betting is placing your chips on two adjoining number squares, usually right on the dissecting square lines, which indicates that your one chip is good for two numbers.
  • Corner betting or square betting is placing your chips on four numbers on the roulette table. The chip is placed at the intersecting lines that connect the four chosen numbers.
  • Street betting is placing chips on three adjoining numbers that are found along a single horizontal line. The chip is usually placed on the edge of the line of numbers.
  • Sixline or sixaine betting shares the same principle as street betting, with one difference: sixline is actually placing a bet on two adjoining streets. This makes a total of six numbers in one bet.

There are also several types of Outside Bets:

  • Even money betting entails placing your chips on 18 numbers. A player usually signals this intention to the croupier by placing chips in a box representing a particular attribute. For example, you place your chips on the red square. This means that you have dibs in all 18 numbers in the red pockets. You can also choose black, low, high, odd and even numbers.
  • Group betting, on the other hand, is placing your chips on the first, second and third group of 12 numbers, regardless of pocket colors (1-12, 13-24, 25-36).
  • Column betting is placing your chips on all 12 numbers on any of the three vertical number lines of the roulette table. Chips are placed on the space below the final number of the string of squares.
