If you don’t understand the Baccarat table, you will have a difficult time understanding the game. The layout of the Baccarat table is such that the croupier is in the center of the table and directly across from the croupier are both dealers. Since up to 14 players can participate in Baccarat at any time, 7 players sit to the left of the Croupier and another 7 sit to the right. This is the basic table layout for basic American Baccarat and may vary in other countries.

No more than 14 players can participate in Baccarat at a time, and the table is labeled as such. To the right of the croupier are the numbers 1-7, which seats seven players in front of the corresponding numbers. The numbers have no value except to alert players that it is a seat. To the left of the croupier, there are seats numbered 8-15 with the number 13 not available because of the superstitions surrounding the number 13. The only change this requires is that the 14th player will be seated at the spot numbered 15. Players can sit at any spot they choose from 1-15, the order in which players sit does not affect the play of the game.

To place bets, both lengths of the table have a betting are in front of the players. The betting area is labeled “player”, “banker”, or “tie” and each player can place their bets in this designated area. The two dealers take care of the players to their sides. The dealer closest to the number seven pays winnings and takes losses from players 1-7 and the dealer closest to the number eight takes care of players 8-15. When a player loses or wins, the two dealers hand out payouts and take losses.

On the table directly between the croupier and the two dealers, lie three boxes; one for tips, discarded cards, and a drop box. Players should never touch these boxes, if you have something that should be put into any of these boxes, hand it to your dealer and they can take care of it. Near those three boxes are numbers 1-15, minus the number 13, which is used to assist the croupier in determining how much commission money each player owes the house. The commission is typically collected before the player exits the table; however some players choose to pay the commission as they go to eliminate the hassle.
